Kicking off the series, we have DevOps intern, Hassan!

When asked what brought him to Databento, Hassan said:

"I stumbled upon Databento through Christina’s posts on LinkedIn, and after seeing the impressive problems they tackled on their blog, I applied for an internship. What really sold it was the team I met in the interviews, who were not only smart but also humble and super friendly. I knew I'd learn tons working alongside them."

We structure our internships differently for each intern based on their goals, experiences, and fit within the company. Here's how Hassan's described his time working with the DevOps team:

"I love working on system engineering projects that carry impact. I do projects ranging from crafting essential backend tools that verify market data packet arrivals, ensuring our users receive the data they pay for, to creating packages that concurrently aggregate latency metrics for end-users. Every day is filled with fascinating challenges. I appreciate the opportunity to contribute to such exciting work!"

Hassan also noted Databento's culture is the right balance of productivity and fun,

"What sets Databento apart is we can be super productive and smart, but know how to keep things fun and not take ourselves too seriously. It’s like a perfect balance of awesomeness and laughter!"

Although Hassan is still early in his career, he already has some impressive experience to build on during his time at Databento,

"Before joining Databento, I was at a small game dev shop, where I took on the challenge of creating a game and an ecosystem for hosting live game shows on the fly. Being the sole developer, it was a massive undertaking, and I’m incredibly proud of how modular and user-friendly it turned out. From user input to memory management in Unreal Engine, I had the whole stack covered!"

When he's not at his keyboard, Hassan often finds the time to step away and enjoy the outdoors of Saskatoon!

"Outside of work, you can find me revving up my sports bike and exploring the great outdoors. Saskatoon may be small, but the fun I’m having off-roading on my bike is huge! I’ve also got a new house, and it’s been keeping me busy with yard work, setting up a cool local network, and much more."

"Remember that this is a special time where you get to bug as many people as you want, learn from their previous experiences, and have a blast while doing it! Stay organized amidst the startup hustle and bustle; it’ll make tackling bigger challenges a piece of cake. Go with the flow, and you’ll be all right!"
