We’re introducing major updates to our pricing plans, effective January 13, 2025 , to support the launch of our new Databento US Equities service.

  1. Usage-based pricing will be discontinued for live data, starting with equities. Users with an active license will be grandfathered at the current rates and may opt into the new pricing.
  2. We've added a more affordable monthly subscription: the Standard plan.
  3. Every subscription plan will now include unlimited access to live data, as well as free historical data for added value.

These changes will initially apply only to equities data. They will be rolled out for all other datasets by March 31, 2025.

Live equities data will no longer be available with usage-based pricing and will instead require a subscription plan. This change will address some common user feedback and offer new benefits:

  • Predictable costs: Many users have expressed they prefer flat-rate pricing to avoid the uncertainty of live usage-based fees.
  • Sign-up credits for live data: Free credits can now be used toward subscriptions.
  • Alignment with exchange requirements: Live data inherently requires monthly exchange license fees and creates inconsistencies with usage-based billing.

Our revamped subscription plans are designed to offer greater flexibility:

  • The new Standard plan ($199/month) provides a cost-effective option that bridges the gap between usage-based and enterprise pricing.
  • Existing Enterprise plans will be renamed to Plus and Unlimited for clarity.

All plans include unlimited access to live data. Each plan also provides free historical data, with the amount of included history varying by schema. For example, Standard plan users will have unlimited access to the entire history of OHLCV-1s/-1m, definitions, imbalances, statistics, and status data for US equities.

Yes. Although we'll no longer support usage-based live data, pay-as-you-go pricing for historical data will remain one of Databento's core features. Usage-based historical data is not being deprecated.

We’re bringing 15 US equities exchanges and 30 ATSes together under one new service: Databento US Equities. This solution combines our existing US equities datasets ( Nasdaq TotalView-ITCH and those bundled in Databento Equities Basic ) with the remaining trading venues for a complete view of the market—all available through a single pricing plan. Stay tuned for more details in our January release announcement.

We’re implementing a grandfathering policy to ensure that existing users with active licenses for Nasdaq TotalView-ITCH or Databento Equities Basic can continue accessing live data at usage-based rates if they prefer. However, access to usage-based live data will no longer be available if the license is terminated.

Enterprise and Enterprise Live users will be upgraded to a Plus or Unlimited plan based on their current service level and contacted via email.
