CME Globex
Quick definition
CME Globex is CME Group’s electronic trading platform for futures and options on futures.
What is CME Globex?
CME Group consists of four exchanges:
- CME (Chicago Mercantile Exchange)
- CBOT (Chicago Board of Trade)
- NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange)
- COMEX (Commodity Exchange)
CME Globex is CME Group's electronic trading platform, providing access to each of these venues and their broad range of products across interest rates, stock indices, foreign exchange (FX), and commodities. It's designed for automated trading systems and a wide range of market participants.
The CME Group Market Data Platform (MDP) 3.0 serves as the exclusive data feed for all instruments traded on CME Globex, including futures, options, spreads, and combinations. MDP 3.0 delivers event-based bid, ask, trade, and statistical data. It utilizes Simple Binary Encoding (SBE), which optimizes data transmission efficiency.
This platform offers full granularity of every order event for each instrument's direct order book, improving on the legacy FAST feed, which previously provided aggregated depth at each price level.
Databento sources real-time and historical CME Globex MDP 3.0 data directly from this proprietary feed.
