Cybersyn was founded by Alex Izydorczyk, former head of Data Science at Coatue, an investment management firm with $70B in assets under management. Cybersyn is a next-generation data company creating a real-time view of the world's economy with analytics-ready data exclusively on Snowflake Marketplace. Initially focused on consumer insights, Cybersyn helps users access external data directly in their Snowflake instance, no ETL required.
In March 2024, Cybersyn added stock prices and trading volumes to its Financial and Economics dataset on Snowflake. The trading volumes, open/close, and high/low prices of all US equities and ETFs executed on the Nasdaq are sourced from Databento's Nasdaq TotalView-ITCH OHLCV-1d data and are updated daily at 6 am ET.
Throughout his career in finance, Alex struggled to find vendors that could provide analytics-ready market data with his desired level of granularity and breadth direct to his Snowflake instance.
Ready-to-use, historical trading volumes and prices round out our coverage of core financial and economic datasets. We are proud to partner with Databento to deliver market data on Snowflake Marketplace.
Given his previous experiences, Alex was able to assess data quality rapidly. When choosing Databento for Cybersyn's needs, he considered several factors, including the effort required to clean and integrate the data.
Cybersyn found Databento to be notably fast and user-friendly, eliminating the need for significant data cleaning—a common requirement with other data sources. Alex highlighted that the engineering team had no questions, which signals that working with Databento's APIs was as easy as expected. They quickly formatted the data to match Cybersyn’s Unified Schema before releasing it on Snowflake Marketplace, and Databento's historical market data API streams new data to their pipeline daily.
Cybersyn leveraged Databento’s normalization to ensure that equity price data could be easily joined with existing datasets, such as SEC filings data. This integration enables Cybersyn to establish connections between securities and the entities that own them, as well as map other data types like merchants, brands, and products to specific companies.
All Cybersyn datasets follow a consistent, unified schema that is easy to work with. Databento’s similar intuitive approach made it easy for our team to join market history data with our existing datasets."
Cybersyn's Financial and Economics data allows users to get equity prices (sourced from Databento) and merge these with equity fundamentals, macroeconomic data, geographic identifiers, company identifiers, and securities identifiers—all within their Snowflake instance.
Thousands of Snowflake accounts are now using Cybersyn data. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Databento.
